So some of you have asked:
How do you select the films that you review? Is it really random? And, can we have the secret recipe that has delivered us such gems as Awaken and Pod?
Here's the ritual:
Step 1: Sign into my "Rock, Paper, Hatchet" account on Netflix (keeping a separate profile for Rock, Paper, Hatchet is essential because otherwise Netflix will think that all you really like to watch is crap like Pod and will recommend accordingly).
Step 2: Browse the streaming movies by the genre: horror
Step 3: Sort by: year released
Step 4: Write down on a scrap of paper the first four films listed that we haven't already reviewed.
And that's it! It's an article of faith that I only do this once per round (since every time you sign in, Netflix moves stuff around). Whatever it spits out, that's what we review.
And for March, it spit out . . .
1. The Veil (2016)
2. Curve (2015)
3. The Diabolical (2015)
4. The Hollow (2015)
Initial observations? "Curve" could probably use an article, and "The Diabolical" could use a noun, but otherwise this is a set of fairly mysterious and creepy words!
